Lavendel ist eines der beliebtesten Kräuter in unseren Gärten. Es gibt unzählige Sorten, aber nur eine ist die echte: der Echte Lavendel (Lavandula angustifolia). Es gibt jedoch eine gewisse Verwirrung in der Nomenklatur, da diese Pflanze auch andere lateinische Synonyme wie Lavandula officinalis, Lavandula vera oder Lavandula spica haben kann, während unter den tschechischen Synonymen verzweigter Lavendel oder schmalblättriger Lavendel zu finden sind.

Wie man den Echten Lavendel erkennt
Diese Lavendelsorte hat schmale, mit silbernen Haaren bedeckte Blätter und kleine blau-violette Blüten, die sich an den Enden schlanker und fester Stängel in dichten dünnen Büscheln gruppieren. Sie liebt die Wärme, was erklärt, warum Gärtner oft andere Sorten bevorzugen. Mit angemessener Winterpflege kann sie jedoch auch unsere Kälte überleben. Ihr markantestes Merkmal ist ihr zarter Duft ohne Anzeichen von „Würze„.
Wie man Lavendel vermehrt
Die Kultivierung von Lavendel ist nicht schwierig, kann aber manchmal etwas heikel sein. Nach mehreren Jahren verlieren alle Sträucher, besonders wenn sie nicht systematisch beschnitten werden, ihren schönen und dichten Wuchs und lassen Blätter von der Basis fallen. Manchmal können sie mit einem angemessenen Schnitt verjüngt werden, aber nicht immer ist dies erfolgreich. Wenn Ihnen auch die Ästhetik wichtig ist, müssen Sie die alte Pflanze durch eine neue ersetzen. Fertige Setzlinge sind oft ziemlich teuer, daher ist es besser, Lavendel manuell zu vermehren.
Dies kann auf verschiedene Arten geschehen. Lavendel wächst zum Beispiel sehr gut aus Samen, die jedoch mehrere Monate lang stratifiziert werden müssen (gekühlt). Lavendel aus Samen – wann aussäen
Wenn die Lavendelbüschel nach der Blüte reif sind, können Sie die Samen einfach auf Papier oder ein Tablett schütteln und trocknen lassen. Damit die Samen jedoch gut keimen, müssen sie mehrere Monate lang stratifiziert werden (es reicht aus, sie in den Kühlschrank zu legen). Lagern Sie sie jedoch nicht einfach kalt, sondern legen Sie sie stattdessen in ein Gefäß mit feuchtem Sand, zum Beispiel. Der gesamte Prozess sollte etwa 2-3 Monate dauern.
Sie können Lavendel im Frühling aussäen, aber es ist viel einfacher, die Samen im Herbst auf die Oberfläche des Substrats zu streuen, wenn die Stratifikation natürlich im Winter stattfindet. Die Vermehrung von Lavendel aus Samen ist nicht schwierig und bietet die Möglichkeit, eine große Anzahl von jungen Pflanzen zu erhalten. Beachten Sie jedoch, dass die auf diese Weise erhaltenen Sämlinge erst im zweiten Jahr nach der Aussaat blühen und sich signifikant von der Mutterpflanze unterscheiden können.

Dann alles vorsichtig gießen und mit einem leichten, luftdurchlässigen Vlies abdecken. Denken Sie daran, dass junge Lavendelpflanzen keine häufige Bewässerung mögen, aber gleichzeitig ständig feucht sein müssen, um richtig zu wurzeln.
Wann man Lavendel aus Stecklingen pflanzt
Das Vlies wird Feuchtigkeit für Ihre jungen Pflanzen bereitstellen. Nach einigen Wochen sollte der Prozess abgeschlossen sein, da Ihre Stecklinge Wurzeln entwickeln (was Sie leicht überprüfen können, indem Sie leicht an ihnen ziehen). Dann können Sie sie in einzelne Töpfe umpflanzen oder sie bis zum Frühling in ihrem ursprünglichen Behälter lassen. Sie sollten sie jedoch immer sorgfältig vor Kälte schützen. Leider ist das nicht ganz richtig, da sich selbst gut etablierter Lavendel nach einem solchen Eingriff nur sehr schwer regeneriert. Tun Sie dies nur, wenn es keine andere Option gibt (zum Beispiel, wenn der Lavendel deutlich über seinen zugewiesenen Platz hinauswächst) und rechnen Sie auch mit dem Risiko, keinen Erfolg zu haben.
